If you know me well, you know that organization is not my strong suit. Sure, my home is tidy, and I work hard to keep it that way, but open a drawer in my kitchen island or a closet in the spare bedroom (please don't), and you’ll quickly discover my lack of organizational prowess. This is my frazzled, real-life wizard behind the veil.
But as long as it doesn’t hinder my creativity or spill out into the daylight, I’ll give myself a pass. (Thank you, self.)
In 2017, I’m determined to get some of these less-than-perfect spaces in order—especially in the studio. My primary workspace lives in our second-story loft area. It’s open to the rest of the house and gets some of the best natural light around. The only downside is that it doesn’t have the dedicated storage space it needs to be truly functional.
In its current state, it's a hodgepodge of "leftover" furniture and a random assortment of bins, buckets, scraps and thingamajigs that hold it all together. It's quirky, for sure, but I think it's time for a little face-lift.
And that’s where my handy hubby Reuben comes into the picture.
If you read our previous blog post, you know that Reuben is the craftsman behind The Secret Zebra, and luckily for me, he’s offered to build custom storage for the studio. (Hip hip hooray!) Until then, my job is to daydream as much as my little heart desires and pin as many pretty, inspirational pictures as possible. (See my inspiration Pinterest board here.) After going a little pin-crazy last night, I noticed a common thread. Bright whites + warm wood tones.
Here are a few that are completely swoon-worthy and feature stellar storage:

While Reuben works on the plans for storage, I’ll be over here pinning, dreaming, drooling and working on a design board to share with you soon. In the meantime, I’d love to hear some of YOUR tips for keeping things organized in your creative spaces—or anywhere in your home!
