Foolproof Valentine's Day Gifts for Guys

February 8, 2017

Me: “What do you want for [insert holiday here]?”

Reuben: “I don’t care.”

Me: “No, really. What do you want?”

Reuben: “Nothing. I don’t need anything.”

This conversation happens every year—before holidays, birthdays, anniversaries. My husband is the easiest person to buy for if you like giving gift cards. But if you’re like me and love putting lots of thought into it, then gift cards are almost always a last resort.

And with Valentine’s Day only one week away, it got me thinking. What do you give the guy who doesn’t really want anything?

To answer this question, I went to the man himself. With a little prodding (and bribing with homemade cookies), Reuben helped me come up with a list of foolproof gifts for the tough-to-buy-for guy in your life. We think they're simple, practical and thoughtful.

Farmhouse Pottery | Silo Mug

Farmhouse Pottery | One for you, and one for me.

You can never have too many mugs. And if you do, there’s zero judgment here. While mugs may be your go-to gift for the coffee obsessed, there’s nothing average about the ones we’ve listed above. When unique is what you’re going for, we recommend shopping small since wheel-thrown mugs are literally one-of-a-kind—just like your guy. (Feel free to plagiarize for your Valentine’s Day card.)

Three Jerks Filet mignon jerky, anyone?

EPIC | Epic is an understatement.

Ask Reuben what his favorite snack is, and he won’t hesitate for a second: vegetables and beef jerky. Simple. And let me tell you, he knows jerky. He’s tried it all. So if you’re looking for the best of the best, we recommend these two winners.
